Poultry Prod.jpgThe impact of climate change continues to have devastating effects on developing countries across the globe, including South Africa. These changes are reported to cause a decline in poultry production and productivity. Droughts and disruptions to water supply also pose a threat as rearing and processing poultry uses high volumes of water. Water quality is important in any type of poultry production and farming to meet hygiene standards.  Climate change is already having an impact on agriculture and food security as a result of increased prevalence of extreme events and increased unpredictability of weather patterns. This can lead to reductions in production and lower incomes, and affect food prices. Ultimately, economic growth and food security will be affected. Therefore, there is an urgent need to alleviate the negative effects of climate change on poultry production to meet growing demand for meat and eggs.
