PigProd.jpg A successful pig production pivots on three basic aspects: breeding, nutrition and management. The breed/genotype largely determines the success of a farming enterprise. The breed must be adaptable to the environment and adapted to the prevailing conditions. Climate change presents new challenges and opportunities for pig farmers. They need to consider the impacts of climate change on productivity, businesses and welfare issues of the pigs. Key concerns for the pig farmer are pig health and performance (e.g. fertility implications); security of feed supplies; energy affordability and security, and the ability of buildings to cope with extreme and fluctuating weather that has an impact on the welfare of the pigs. This module will assist in Climate change opportunities for pig farmers  such as Savings, Productivity, Reduced and Adaptation Suggestions for Pig Farmers.
