A grant agreement between the Agricultural Research Council and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany was signed on 27 June 2023. This 6-month project was officially launched with a webinar on 4 July 2023 and the project will end 15 Dec 2023. Dr Althea Grundli​ng (ARC-NRE) is the Principle Investigator and Dr Kwazi Zuma (ARC-I&P) is tasked to manage the project, supported by Ms. Lerato Maboa (ARC-I&P) as the project coordinator.  This agreement creates a platform for inter-institute collaboration between ARC-I&P, ARC-NRE and ARC-PHP team members who will contribute different expertise in order to fulfil the project objectives. The project aims to disseminate information about Wetland Management in South Africa to a variety of stakeholders on related wetland management topics. A research note, educational film and information pamphlets are also part of this initiative and project output. Research findings will be shared from various wetland projects that range from hydrology studies to wetland rehabilitation, as well as vegetation surveys and nematode studies in wetlands. The nematode survey is the first of its kind in South Africa. The mid​-​Century (i.e., 2040-2060) projections for rainfall and temperature characteristics intended to focus on anticipated changes in climate and its impacts on biodiversity and carbon and water storage of which the management of wetlands play a crucial role in catchments. ​
