SERVICES Plant Protection renders a diagnostic service to all fruit, vine and fynbos producers. The service includes identification of insect pests and diseases. Diseases such as Petri disease, Black foot and wood rotting of grapevines are identified through destructive analysis of the plant. Soil and root analysis for the presence of root-rotting fungi on all fruit crops as well as on fynbos, can be done. Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is used for the identification of Bacterial Blight, bacterial canker, and Aster Yellows.
Diagnostic services PCR for bacterial blight, Pierce's disease, Crown gall, Bacterial spot (Xanthomonas), Bacterial canker (Pseudomonas), Xylella fastidiosa and Aster Yellows (phytoplasma)
