The ARC was established in 1990 through the Agricultural Research Act 86 of 1990 (as amended by Act 27 of 2001). The Agricultural Research Council proved itself to be the principal agricultural research institution in South Africa. The primary mandate of the ARC is to promote Agriculture and Industry, to contribute to a better quality of life, to facilitate and ensure resource conservation and to alleviate poverty.  [Learn more]
